Firebox Repair

The firebox is what most people think of when they think of a fireplace—the area that contains the fire. Since the firebox comes into direct contact with the flames, it is very important to ensure it is properly maintained and to inspect it regularly for signs of disrepair. Cracks or damage to your firebox can allow flames or combustible materials to seep into the walls and create a dangerous house fire. Per Minnesota code, any cracks bigger than the thickness of a nickel need to be repaired with refractory cement.
